90 secs The 90 Second Film Challenge

The results are in for roughcut's first film competition - and what an amazing response we've had! Interest in the competition has been huge - we've had over 44 entries in total, and all three screenings were completely sold out.

roughcut launched the 90 Second Film Challenge on January 22nd 2004. It was our first competition and was designed to encourage new and aspiring filmmakers to make new, exciting, original films.

With no restriction on style or subject, the range of entries was very varied, and included comedies, documentaries, animations, and art films. We were looking for bold, imaginative films that captured the roughcut spirit of invention and adventure. The only restriction was that the film could not last longer than 90 seconds - including credits!

Entered films were reviewed by a panel of roughcut judges, who awarded first, second and third prizes and a selection of special awards. The roughcut audience were also given the opportunity to choose their favourite film.

This year's winners are listed below.
