The Midnight Drives

The Midnight Drives was o-region’s first feature film. Funded by Cornwall Film in conjunction with Southwest Screen, the film was directed by Mark Jenkin (BAFTA-winning director of Bait and Enys Men) and produced by Simon Harvey, o-region’s artistic director.

A moving drama about a father coming to Cornwall to share an out of season holiday with his estranged children, the film starred Colin Holt and Alex Reid in the leading roles.

The Midnight Drives played in competition at the 2007 Dinard British Festival Du Brittanique and went on to screen at the London UK Film Focus, Cornwall Film Festival and the Celtic Media Festival.

The film also had a series of sold out screenings at WTW Cinemas (Cornwall) and an eighteen month run of screenings at rural venues through the Carn to Cove scheme.

We have enjoyed a long creative history with Mark Jenkin, having produced one of his earliest low-budget features, The Rabbit. He has collaborated on a number of other o-region projects over the years.
