From the Horse’s Mouth – Phase 1

Throughout spring and early summer 2024 we have been busy delivering Phase 1 of our Cornwall wide From the Horse’s Mouth outreach project.

Teams of artists lead by o-region’s Artistic Director Simon Harvey and lead writer Anna Maria Murphy have been undertaking a series of residencies in our five identified communities – St Mary’s (Isles of Scilly), Bude / Poundstock, Launceston, Redruth and Trelya / the Treneere estate (Penzance).

We have hosted drop in story collecting sessions, art and craft activities, song composition, drama and writing workshops and conducted 1-2-1 interviews with members of the community to explore the themes of place, family and home.

Over the last couple of months we have met some fantastic people and collected countless fascinating stories as we have begun to get under the skin of these distinct communities.

In total we have engaged with 136 participants and the exploration of place, family and home will directly inform our new large scale show in 2025.

Our team of writers made up of experienced and emerging talent are now busily writing original material which will form the basis of a series of curated performance events in each community in the Autumn of this year.
