WHITE HORSE / From the Horse’s Mouth
Throughout 2024, o-region are undertaking an ambitious and interwoven programme of community / participative work (From the Horse’s Mouth) leading to the premiere of a brand new show, WHITE HORSE, which will premiere at the Regal Theatre Redruth in early 2025.
From the Horse’s Mouth – Community Projects
These community residencies will involve teams of artists (writers, filmmakers and composers) working in five locations across Cornwall – Redruth, Launceston, Bude, Penzance and the Isles of Scilly – to explore the core themes of our new show: sense of place, belonging and home.
Sessions will lead to original stories, music and film which will be presented in a series of community specific public performances. We aim to try and discover the essence of what makes each community / place unique.
Selected works will also be audio-recorded, scored and produced to be presented along with original music and film work through the o-region website, socials and other community outlets.
All participants will be invited to attend and have work presented as part of the WHITE HORSE run.
If you are interested in getting involved with the project, please see our recent call out for Emerging Writers.
WHITE HORSE – About the show
The work undertaken during From the Horse’s Mouth will inform and inspire the development of our new show, WHITE HORSE. Written and directed by Simon Harvey, based on the Michael Morpurgo novel The White Horse of Zennor, the show will be aimed at family audiences (aged 8+) and will feature live music, puppetry and innovative digital film and sound design.
This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
